Cotton Thirteenth to fourteenth week practices

Apply third dose of fertilizer @ 5kg magnesium sulphate, 5kg micronutrient fertilizer and 4 kg NPK-0-52-34/acre. After giving fertilizer dose apply water on the field to make crop more productive as flowering as its peak and fruiting stage starts. Use pheromone traps @ 5 traps/ha, physical collection and destruction of grown up larvae for control of bollworm attack, use of HaNPV 0.43% AS @ 2700ml/ha, removal of terminals (topping) to be done at times of high oviposition by Helicoverpa.

Boll rot- 

It is a complex disease caused by several fungal pathogens viz., Fusarium moniliforme, Colletotrichum capsici, Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Rhizopus nigricans, Nematospora nagpuri and Botryodiplodia sp.

Symptoms

  •  Brown or black dots covering entire bolls
  • Rotting may be internal or external
  • Bolls do not open and fall prematurely

Management

  • Adopt optimum spacing.
  • Apply the recommended doses of fertilizers.

Spray Carbendazim 1kg or Mancozeb 2 kg/ha from 45th day at 15 days interval.
